Siberian Larch is highly valued for its remarkable properties and performance characteristics. It is strong and durable, possessing especially high levels of resin which give the heartwood a natural resistance to decay. It contains oils and tannins that protect it from the elements. This natural weather protection means that Siberian Larch can last for over 30 years. The reason this wood is so hard is that the trees grow extremely slowly in Siberia, due to the cold weather conditions. Slow growing wood has tight grain and few knots. Due to Siberian Larch being so hard-wearing it is a wood that isn’t as vulnerable to knocks, scrapes and scratches. This is an important quality for fencing as it will mean your fence will be robust and stand the test of time.
Siberian Larch panels can be stained, treated with a UV protection oil to keep their beautiful natural colour, or they can be allowed to weather naturally over time to a silvery grey colour.
