Treated pine timber – Strong, smooth, and versatile

Treated pine is one of the most popular and versatile building materials, known for its strength, affordability, and long-lasting performance. Each board is treated by soaking with red-tinted protective preservatives that penetrate deep into the wood fibers, creating a strong barrier against rot, decay, mold, and insect damage. This process ensures the timber remains durable even in demanding outdoor environments.

Thanks to its treatment, pine becomes a low-maintenance, weather-resistant option that performs exceptionally well in fencing, decking, cladding, pergolas, and garden structures. The preservative also gives the wood a distinctive red tinted appearance.

Pine timber properties

Treated pine timber is a versatile and widely used material in the building industry. Thanks to its strength, light weight, and workability, it is suitable for a variety of structural and non-structural applications.

  • Enhanced Durability: Pressure-treated to withstand harsh weather and ground contact conditions.
  • Low Maintenance: Requires minimal upkeep while retaining its structural integrity for years.
  • Versatile Use: Ideal for fencing, cladding, landscaping, decking subframes, and other exterior structures.
  • Sustainably Sourced: Harvested from responsibly managed forests.
  • Moisture Content: Approximately 12%, ideal for indoor construction.
Care & Maintenance

Although treated pine boards are designed for long-term protection, occasional maintenance can extend their lifespan even further. Applying a timber oil, stain, or sealant helps maintain their color, minimize surface cracking, and protect against UV exposure. Regular inspection and cleaning will ensure your boards continue to perform beautifully over time.

Pine timber quick tips

Our treated pine is pressure-treated with preservatives that deeply penetrate the grain, providing long-lasting protection against rot, decay, and insect attack. With proper care and occasional maintenance, treated pine can deliver excellent longevity and retain its strength and appearance for many years.

1
Choose the Right Grade
Sort your lengths

Use C16 for general structural applications and C24 for higher load-bearing needs or longer spans.

2
Use Sharp Tools
USE PROFESSIONAL EQUIPMENT

Pine is soft and easy to work with, but sharp blades and clean bits will give the best results and reduce tear-out.

3
Pre-Drill Near Edges
Avoid splits and cracks

To avoid splitting, pre-drill pilot holes when fixing near ends or edges, especially in dry or narrow sections.

4
Treat for Outdoor Use
Protect your wood

Pine is not naturally durable. Use a pressure-treated version or apply a suitable wood preservative for external applications.
