Durable, cost-effective solution for outdoor spaces

Transform your outdoor space with our high-quality treated spruce decking boards, designed to combine natural beauty with lasting durability. Crafted from premium spruce, these decking boards are pressure-impregnated to protect against rot, decay, and insect damage, making them a reliable choice for all weather conditions. Whether you are creating a garden deck, patio, or walkway, these boards offer excellent strength and a timeless finish.

Our spruce decking is lightweight yet strong, ensuring easy installation without compromising on performance. The pressure treatment enhances the wood’s lifespan, making it a cost-effective solution for anyone looking to invest in long-lasting outdoor decking. With proper care and minimal maintenance, impregnated spruce decking can serve you for years, naturally blending into its surroundings while maintaining structural integrity.

Each decking board is smooth-planed for comfort and safety, with optional ribbed profiles for added slip resistance. The natural light color of spruce, combined with the greenish or brown tint from impregnation, gives your deck a warm and inviting look that can weather gracefully to a silver-grey patina over time. This makes it versatile enough to suit both traditional and modern garden designs.

Perfect for DIY projects or professional installations, our treated decking boards are available in multiple sizes to fit your specific needs. They are ideal for creating relaxing outdoor living areas, durable garden paths, or stylish patio surfaces. For the best results, we recommend regular cleaning and optional oiling to enhance protection and preserve the wood’s appearance.

Choose treated spruce decking for a safe, sustainable, and affordable decking solution that delivers both performance and style. Build a deck you’ll enjoy for years to come—strong, attractive, and ready to withstand the elements.

Spruce timber properties

Treated spruce decking is a popular and cost-effective choice for outdoor living spaces. Spruce is a light-colored softwood with a straight grain and smooth texture, making it easy to cut, shape, and install. When pressure treated, spruce decking gains extra durability and resistance against rot, fungi, mold, and insect attack, making it suitable for outdoor use such as terraces, balconies, and garden decking.

Spruce wood is naturally lightweight with a density of around 400–470 kg/m³, which makes it easy to handle during construction. After treatment, it achieves durability class 3, providing a service life of around 15 to 25 years when properly installed and maintained. The pressure treatment penetrates deeply into the wood, offering long-lasting protection in above-ground applications.

Treated spruce decking is also sustainable, as spruce is a fast-growing European softwood. It can be supplied in planed, grooved, or anti-slip finishes to suit different design and safety requirements. Over time, spruce decking will naturally weather to a silver-gray patina unless stained or painted. For the best performance, decking boards should be installed with proper ventilation and spacing to allow for natural wood movement.

Visual Characteristics
  • Color: Natural light-yellow to pale cream spruce tone. Light brown tint due to pressure impregnation. Over time, boards weather naturally to a silver-grey patina if left untreated.
  • Surface Appearance: Smooth planed finish for a clean, uniform look. Optional ribbed or grooved profile for anti-slip functionality. May display natural knots, resin pockets, and grain variations, typical of spruce wood.
  • Grain & Texture: Fine to medium grain with a straight, even texture. Occasional slight warping or twisting may occur due to natural wood properties.
  • Defects & Features: Knots – sound, tight knots are permitted and part of the natural character. Minor surface cracks and small resin streaks may appear but do not affect durability. Impregnation may leave visible salt or color marks, which are normal and fade over time.
  • Finish Over Time: Initial impregnated look fades as boards weather. Surface can be treated with decking oil or stain to maintain or enhance color.

Spruce timber quick tips

Treated spruce timber is enhanced through pressure impregnation, giving it reliable resistance to moisture, insects, and decay. While the treatment provides strong protection, regular cleaning and optional oiling will further improve its durability and keep your decking looking its best for years.

1
Choose the Right Grade
Sort your lengths

Use C16 for general structural applications and C24 for higher load-bearing needs or longer spans.

2
Use Sharp Tools
USE PROFESSIONAL EQUIPMENT

Spruce is soft and easy to work with, but sharp blades and clean bits will give the best results and reduce tear-out.

3
Pre-Drill Near Edges
Avoid splits and cracks

To avoid splitting, pre-drill pilot holes when fixing near ends or edges, especially in dry or narrow sections.

4
Treat for Outdoor Use
Protect your wood

Spruce is not naturally durable. Use a pressure-treated version or apply a suitable wood preservative for external applications.
